Profoto unveils the A1

Meet the world’s smallest studio light.

Profoto has today unveiled it’s A1 flash. The A1 features a magnetic mount built into its head allowing you to attach Profoto light shaping tools and modifiers quickly and easily.

The fully rotating flash features a modelling light and also has a zoom function so you can control the spread of light.

One of Profoto’s aims in designing the A1 was to create something that was simple and easy to use. This has been achieved through an intuitive interface and a large high-contrast display.

Profoto claims that the A1’s built-in Li-ion high capacity battery can last up to four times longer than AA batteries, without its performance fading. The A1 is a 76 watt unit, that recycles every 1.2 seconds, which is four times faster than other on-camera flashes.

The A1 can be used as a stand-alone flash or can be integrated with a larger light set up thanks to its compatbility with the B1, B2, D2 and Pro 10.

See the A1 in action.

Pricing and availability are yet to be confirmed.
