Carnival Pop-Up: Matt Stuart, Lua Ribeira and Martin Parr to shoot at St Pauls Carnival
Arnolfini, the Martin Parr Foundation and St Pauls Carnival are teaming up to shoot Bristol’s vibrant carnival with an exhibition to follow
On Saturday 6 July, a select group of photographers, led by Matt Stuart, Lua Ribeira and Martin Parr, are shooting the city’s colourful St Pauls Carnival. Renowned street photographer, Matt Stuart, is also sharing professional tips and tricks with the group prior to their shooting of the carnival.
On the following day, all images will be edited at the Martin Parr Foundation, with the best printed and displayed in a pop-up studio in the Arnolfini galleries, sponsored by Wex Photo Video and Epson.
The studio is open to the public and visitors have the chance to view the carnival images and watch the process of turning digital photos into prints, as well as the installed exhibition. The Pop-Up Carnival exhibition evolves over the course of the week, culminating on Friday 12 July when a final selection is being unveiled at an opening party.
With live music, costumes and dancing, the opening party is reminiscent of the carnival itself, while the exhibition is running for a month, closing on 11 August.
