Telephoto zoom and three primes from Tamron

The f/2.8 lenses come in 70-180mm, 20mm, 24mm and 35mm focal lengths and are designed for full-frame Sony mirrorless systems.

Tamron has announced the third model in its series of f/2.8 high-speed zoom lenses, the 70-180mm, in addition to three new primes. The new zoom features Tamron’s newly developed VXD linear motor focus mechanism, which promises quick and quiet autofocus, and supports a range of camera-specific features including hybrid and eye AF.

When it comes to focus capabilities for the three primes, users will be able to enjoy a close focusing distance (0.11m, 0.12m and 0.15m for the 20mm, 24mm and 35mm respectively) thanks to a magnification ration of 1:2 – a first in this category of lens.

All four lenses feature a moisture-resistant construction and fluorine lens coating, making them viable options for outdoor shooters.

Prices are yet to be announced, but the lenses are due to hit shelves between December and spring 2020, with the primes launching a few months before the zoom.
