Lighting with the fantastic Forza 500

If you need the complete lighting package of power and real versatility, the NanLite Forza 500 from Kenro could be just what you’re looking for.

There are plenty of continuous lighting options on the market today, but the NanLite Forza 500, distributed in the UK and Ireland by Kenro, is undoubtedly up there with the best. It’s the winner of the Photography News 2019 Award for Best LED Light, and it has the features to back it up.

The powerful 500W COB LED monolight features a stylish, compact and lightweight carbon fibre design, powerful enough for use in the field and soft and flattering enough for use in the studio. A 330 °rotating handle makes it easy to find the perfect angle, whether it’s mounted on a light stand or hanging in the studio. The Forza 500 is controlled via a dedicated control panel separate to the unit, via Wi-Fi app or via a 2.4G remote. When available, power can be supplied from 100-240V AC mains, but a pair of V-lock batteries can also be used.

The light’s mighty 500W power equates to 66,300 Lux at 1m (with reflector), though 0-100% continuous dimming is offered, so you can rest assured any subject or scene you’re shooting won’t be overpowered. Unusual colour shifts won’t be an issue either thanks to the Forza 500’s accurate 5600K colour temperature, a CRI value of 98 and a TLCI score of 95.

One of the key benefits of continuous light is its ability to be used in a wide range of situations and mediums, including video. The Forza 500 is certainly no exception here, with an ultra-quiet fan and a range of special effects, with storm, camera flash, TV and faulty bulb modes all on hand to offer users creative options.

A pleasing range of accessories is also available, including softboxes, grids, a remote control and a Fresnel lens. The Forza 500 kit includes the light head, a power adapter, reflector and carry bag as standard.

The powerful 500 isn’t the only light in the Forza series. The Forza 300 offers almost identical features to its more powerful sibling with a lower 300W output, making it an ideal choice for users who don’t have the need for quite so much power.

The NanLite Forza 60 is a sound choice for photographers and videographers who need a small, versatile light for use on the go.

The 60W unit offers great versatility in the field and can also be used in the studio.

Measuring just 194mm on its longest edge and weighing less than 1kg, the Forza 60 can be dropped in your kit bag and carried around with ease. Unlike the 300 and 500, the Forza 60 is solely controlled from the unit’s rear panel, meaning less to carry and less to set up. An optional battery handle accessory allows easy use with Sony NP-F style batteries. The smallest light in the series does still feature the same special effects, dimming capabilities and accurate colour temperature as the others, so on every level, it’s an ideal little companion.

Kenro has done an exceptional job of ensuring all needs are catered for across the NanLite Forza range, and it’s safe to say any one of these lights is ready for whatever you throw at it.
