Two new lenses from Samyang

Posted on May 26, 2020

Mark 2 versions of the popular 14mm f/2.8 and 85mm f/1.4 lenses possess a host of new features.

Samyang has announced the renewal of two of its popular manual focus lenses, with the new MF 14mm f/2.8 Mk2 and MF 85mm f/1.4 Mk2 set to be released in June. Both lenses are available in Canon EF, M and MFT, Nikon F, Sony E and Fujifilm X Mounts.

The 14mm features an ultra-wide 115.7˚ angle of view, a 0.28m minimum focusing distance, as well as two new features – Focus Lock and De-click. The former allows locking of the focus ring, while the latter offers the option of infinitely fine aperture adjustments between f/stops.

The lens features some new design elements, including a textured rubber focus ring and fixed lens hood. Inside, there are nine rounded aperture blades and 14 elements in ten groups, with three high refractive, one hybrid aspherical, one aspherical and two extra-low dispersion elements.

The 85mm features the same De-click aperture control as the 14mm and nine rounded aperture blades for better bokeh. Inside, it’s constructed with nine elements in seven groups, with one hybrid aspherical element. Both lenses are weather sealed.

The Samyang MF 14mm f/2.8 Mk2 and MF 85mm f/1.4 Mk2 lenses are available from early June, with suggested retail prices ranging from £359 to £439, depending on model and fitting. For more information, please visit the Intro 2020 website.
