Sony announces Alpha 7R V

The latest in its full-frame mirrorless line, the camera features innovative AI technology

Sony has announced the Alpha 7R V, a full-frame E-mount mirrorless camera. It’s the first of the 7R series to feature the latest BIONZ XR image processing, 8-step stabilisation, and a 4-axis multi-angle monitor. The camera also incorporates Sony’s innovative AI technology, which enhances autofocusing by improving subject recognition accuracy and including non-human subjects like vehicles and insects.

The Alpha 7R V offers 61-megapixel stills, 8K video capture, and up to 10fps for continuous shooting. The BIONZ XR processor provides the highest resolution at the lowest sensitivity – a record for the Alpha series – enabling ISO 100 to 32,000. Enhanced AF improves both stacking and tracking – now available in real time.

Improved image stabilisation and a multi-angle LCD monitor provide users with flexibility while shooting and are especially useful when recording video. In addition to its 8-step stabilisation, the A7R V is compatible with certain lenses which include built-in IS. The 4-axis monitor both opens and tilts at various angles, supporting smooth shooting.

The A7R V has both a strong and sustainable build. Heat dissipation and dust and moisture resistance allow for long sessions in inclement conditions, and PCK-LG3 Screen Protect Glass Sheet compatibility ensures even more protection. Finally, the camera is made in part from recyclable plastics, reducing its environmental imprint.
