Canon drops four new products

In one fell swoop, Canon announces two new EOS R mirrorless cameras and two RF-mount lenses
Canon recently announced two new additions to its EOS R mirrorless camera line. The EOS R8 and EOS R50 provide entry-level full-frame and APS-C options, respectively. The same announcement included two new RF-mount lenses – a 24-50mm and a 55-210mm.
The EOS R50 may appeal to those eager to switch from smartphone photography or videography to something a bit more professional. It’s aimed at active, on-the-go creators who prioritise having a compact device that can handle their needs. The R50 features Canon’s 24.2-megapixel APS-C sensor and is able to record video in UHD 4K 30p, while an upgraded AF system includes subject recognition technology.
The EOS R8 provides an option for those taking their first steps into full-frame photography. The larger sensor translates to bigger bokeh, wider angles and improved performance in low-light environments. The R8’s 24.2-megapixel full-frame sensor can capture up to 40 fps continuous shooting using the electronic shutter. It can also deliver 4K 60p 10-bit C-Log3 video and slow-motion footage in Full HD at 180 fps.
Both cameras have improved autofocus thanks to Dual Pixel CMOS AF II, good for capturing people, pets or moving vehicles. The EOS R8’s intelligent sensor is also designed to detect when subjects go in and out of frame.

The APS-C RF-S 55-210mm suits sports and wildlife photographers
No camera is complete without its lens, and Canon has delivered two RF-mount lenses to complement these new cameras – one optimised for full frame, the other for APS-C.
The full-frame RF 24-50mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM offers a versatile focal range and 7-blade aperture, making it well suited to portraiture, street and travel photography. The APS-C RF-S 55-210mm f/5-7.1 IS STM telephoto zoom offers an equivalent focal range of 88-336mm that will appeal to sports and wildlife photographers.
Both lenses are relatively small and lightweight, promising quiet autofocusing with minimal breathing thanks to an STM motor. Additionally, the RF lenses offer 4.5 stops of image stabilisation for more freedom when shooting handheld in the field.
