On top of the world with WhiteWall

WhiteWall enjoyed double success in the TIPA World Awards 2023, confirming its status as one of the best labs in the world

Whitewall has continued its impressive showing at the TIPA World Awards with two successes in 2023. Following wins in 2013, 2017, 2020 and 2021, this year saw the premium photo lab take the spoils for best photo lab and best frame design thanks to its 3D wall art configurator and WhiteWall Design Edition by Studio Besau-Marguerre.
“We are particularly proud of this double award,” said Alexander Nieswandt, founder and managing director of WhiteWall. “Winning two TIPA World Awards is confirmation that we made the right decision in collaborating with an external design duo. There is no comparable product in our industry. The development of the WhiteWall configurator was personally very close to my heart and I’m delighted for the team that their work has been duly recognised.”
The wall art configurator simplifies the process of choosing display images. It lets photographers select the ideal format, mounting material and frame by creating a 3D representation of what the finished product will look like in a variety of room settings. It can even show realistic reflections to demonstrate how daylight affects an image.
Commenting on the award, the TIPA technical committee said: “WhiteWall has further developed its wall art configurator and significantly optimised the user experience. This includes, among other things, a more user-friendly design process, a more detailed representation of the works, and a new image optimisation tool. In all, this allows for full collaboration between WhiteWall labs and its clients for not only the best print and frame presentation but also how the work will display in select environments. In each step of the individual configurations, it is the small details that matter, which in the end lead to a perfect final result.”
The Design Edition frames, meanwhile, give a new dimension to conventional picture framing. Produced in collaboration with designers Eva Marguerre and Marcel Besau, the frames are available in three colour schemes – yellow, purple and green – with a subtle shift in hue on each of the four sides. Various product configurations are available, such as a classic matte or lamination behind acrylic glass.
TIPA members were impressed by WhiteWall’s Design Edition frames, commenting: “They make an eye-catching and distinctive finishing touch for fine art, home decor, and gallery display images. Available in custom sizes from 6×6 to 70.8×47.2 inches (15×15 to 178x120cm), the frames are bold and colourful, with four different colour profiles in their respective colour schemes.
“Being a leading custom lab, Whitewall offers a wide variety of print surface and mounting options, including matte and glossy acrylic glass, all selectable in the ‘mounting’ ordering set-up. In addition, a wall-mount clip is provided in every single print or frame package,” TIPA’s technical committee continued. “To ensure the very best rendition, Whitewall also offers downloadable ICC profiles for use by professionals for soft proofing.”
