Nikkor Z 35mm f/1.4 prime lens hits the streets

Posted on Jun 26, 2024

Nikon has announced the launch of the Nikkor Z 35mm f/1.4 lens, a full-frame prime lens designed for versatility on the move

The lens has been created for street, travel, documentary and event photography and videography, with a big focus on creative freedom.

Key features

The Z 35mm f/1.4 lens features an f/1.4 aperture – a first for Nikon’s Z series. As such, we can expect good low light performance, soft bokeh and clear subject separation. Aperture can be controlled by a clickless control ring, which will appeal to videographers.

The lens includes Nikon’s multi-focusing system which the company says delivers speed, accuracy and minimal focus breathing. It has a close focusing distance of 0.27m.

The Z 35mm f/1.4 is a very portable 415 grams, and is weather-sealed, so good for varied conditions. When all this is combined with its 35mm focal length, it’s easy to see why Nikon is pushing this lens’ versatility.

Availability and pricing

The Nikkor Z 35mm f/1.4 will be available starting July 2024, with a recommended retail price of £649 in the UK and €759 in the Republic of Ireland. Find out more at the Nikon website.
