Nikon announces Z 50mm f/1.4 full-frame lens

Posted on Sep 10, 2024

Nikon has introduced the latest addition to its Z series, the full-frame Nikkor Z 50mm f/1.4 prime lens

The Z 50mm f/1.4 joins the existing Z 35mm f/1.4 Z series fast-aperture prime and promises shallow depth-of-field that’s perfect for portraits and creative background effects. Additionally, a minimum focus distance of 0.37m means the lens lends itself well to close-up shots.

Nikon says the autofocus system, which uses the company’s multi-focusing technology, is designed for fast and quiet operation, making it useful for both photography and video. This is reinforced with features like reduced focus breathing and support for manual focus pulling, providing greater control for videographers.

Weighing approximately 420g, the Z 50mm f/1.4 is built with portability in mind. It includes weather sealing around the moving parts of the lens barrel, offering additional protection against the elements.

The NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.4 will be available later in September 2024, with a retail price of £499 in the UK and €579 in Ireland. Visit the Nikon website for more information.
