The Travel Photographer of the Year competition always produces some spectacular photos, and 2019 was certainly no exception.

Katy Gomez Catalina, an amateur photographer and doctor of veterinary science from Spain, has been announced as the overall winner of the 2019 TPOTY competition at an awards evening at the Fujifilm House of Photography.

Katy is the second female overall winner of the competition in its 17-year history, and the very first overall winner from Spain.

More than 20,000 images were submitted from photographers of all ages from all around the world.

Other notable winners include 11-year-old Indigo Larmour from Ireland who took the Young Travel Photographer of the Year award, Paul Sansome, who took top spot in the Art of Travel portfolio category, and Trevor Cole took who took top honours in the People & Cultures portfolio category.

Across the various categories, photographers have won prizes including cash bursaries, Fujifilm X-T3 camera kits, Swarovski Optik binoculars, as well as other accessories, experiences and workshops.

We’ll be taking an in-depth look at the Travel Photographer of the Year competition in the upcoming issue 75, so be sure to find the issue in our issue library upon its release.
