39th AOP Awards winners announced

Posted on Sep 27, 2024

The winners of the 39th AOP Awards were revealed last night at a ceremony in London

This annual event, hosted by the Association of Photographers (AOP), celebrates exceptional talent across various fields of professional photography. The ceremony was part of the AOP Annual Showcase.

The AOP Awards, a cornerstone of the photographic industry since 1968, recognise excellence across ten diverse categories. This year’s top honours include Gold wins for Todd Antony in the Documentary category and Rocio Chacon in Fashion + Beauty. Ian Kirby and Tom Parker were named joint Gold winners in the Environment category.

The ceremony also spotlighted up-and-coming talent. The AOP Emerging Talent Award, celebrating photographers with less than three years of experience, was won by Ruth Samuels. Additionally, the AOP Discovery Award, aimed at assistant photographers, saw four joint winners: Oliver Clyde, Theo Deproost, Lesley Lau and Owen Peters.

Other notable winners include Jack Eames, who took home Best in Show (Commissioned), and Nigel Riches, awarded Best in Show (Personal). The Martin Evening Excellence in Digital Retouching Award, launched last year, was awarded to Matt Brewin.
