Hasselblad launches ultra-wide zoom lens XCD 3,2-4,5/20-35E

Posted on Sep 10, 2024

Hasselblad has introduced the XCD 3,2-4,5/20-35E, the first ultra-wide-angle zoom lens in its XCD E series

Coming with an ‘E’ designation to signify a focus on high optical performance and a 16-27mm full-frame equivalent focal length range, the XCD 3,2-4,5/20-35E is designed for high performance in a range of photography genres, including landscapes, architecture and environmental portraits.

The lens features 16 elements in 12 groups, including three aspherical and four ED elements and is said to meet the resolution requirements of Hasselblad’s 100-megapixel sensors. The company tells us that the lens aims to provide consistent sharpness and detail across the frame, with natural colour rendering.

At its widest setting of 20mm, the XCD 3,2-4,5/20-35E offers the broadest field of view available in Hasselblad’s medium-format system.

It includes a stepping motor and a compact focusing lens group, designed to offer precise and quiet focusing. This is supported by phase detection autofocus technology when paired with compatible 100-megapixel Hasselblad cameras.

The XCD 3,2-4,5/20-35E is constructed with a metal body and incorporates a leaf shutter that’s capable of flash synchronisation at shutter speeds up to 1/2000s.

The lens is available now, priced at £5,699. For more information, visit Hasselblad’s website.
