Leica welcomes latest model to its M-system, the revolutionary M11

Combining all the benefits of traditional rangefinder photography with state-of-the-art camera technology, the Leica M11 is the M-system’s most flexible camera yet.

Key features include an exclusive triple resolution sensor, expanded ISO range, dual memory, extended battery life and a streamlined, easy-to-use menu system.

The camera boasts a full-frame BSI CMOS sesnor with Triple Resolution technology, allowing raw image files in DNG format and the option to record JPEGs at 60, 36 or 18 megapixels using the full sensor area. This gives photographers the full range of high-resolution images at 60 megapixels, or faster camera performance, extended burst lengths and smaller files at 18 megapixels.

The M11 has a sensitivity range of ISO 64 to 50,000 and offers a dynamic range of up to 15 stops, recording a 14-bit colour depth. It’s quick and responsive to use, too, with a shutter speed of up to 1/16000 of a second, which enables users to take photos with wide open apertures, even in bright light and with no ND filters.

It’s not just the internal features that have had a revamp, the exterior has had a makeover too, with the addition of a 2.3million pixels, high-resolution touchscreen, which yields a more user-friendly interaction with the camera. The traditional base plate has been omitted – a first in the M-system – giving photographers easy direct access to the battery and SD card.

Storage capacity is hefty, offering 64 gigabytes. The M11 is also the first camera in the M-system to have the option of saving image files simultaneously onto two different storage media. The battery is 64% more powerful, supporting efficient camera operation and longer shooting sessions without the need to charge. The addition of a universal USB-C port also allows charging using most USB-C chargers.

Keep an eye out for new firmware in the latter half of 2022, which will unleash the camera’s connectivity capabilities and enhance users’ mobile workflows.

There are also accompanying accessories such as the Visoflex 2 electronic viewfinder, which offers 3.7 megapixel resolution for exceptional image control in Live View mode. There’s also a newly designed handgrip that improves the camera’s ergonomics and doubles as a tripod mount when using Arca-Swiss-standard tripod heads.
