New FE 20mm f/1.8 G lens from Sony

Posted on Mar 3, 2020

The new fast aperture ultra-wide lens is now the widest full-frame prime in the E-mount line-up.

The new FE 20mm f/1.8 G gives full-frame Sony shooters new possibilities when it comes to landscapes, astrophotography, video and more. Featuring a compact and lightweight design, the new lens is dust and moisture resistant making it an option for shooting even in challenging conditions.

The 20mm also features fast and precise autofocussing thanks to two extreme dynamic linear motors, a customisable focus hold button and an aperture ring with a click on/off switch. Inside, the lens contains two advanced aspherical elements and three extra-low dispersion elements to minimise chromatic aberration and ensure greater sharpness.

More versatility comes in the way of the range of 67mm filters that can be used with the lens, and a minimum focus distance of 0.19m.

The Sony FE 20mm f/1.8 G is available in Europe from March 2020, priced around £950.
