Nikon adds wide-angle zoom to Z Series

Posted on Sep 29, 2022

NIKKOR Z 17-28mm f/2.8 is its lightest full-frame, ultra-wide-angle mirrorless zoom lens to date

Nikon has released the NIKKOR Z 17-28mm f/2.8 for its Z series. The ultra-wide-angle zoom, is the lightest of its type, weighing approximately 450g. The lens features a constant aperture of f/2.8, which creates pronounced bokeh, particularly when shooting close-range objects. Additionally, a minimum focusing distance of 0.19m pulls focus into the foreground while broadening the background. The 17-28mm is suited to a range of subjects, whether in portrait, landscape, or street photography.

The 17-28mm is also great for shooting video – it has reduced focus breathing and customisable silent control, while its wide zoom ring allows for easy control when changing frames. The lens is also sealed against dust and water damage, for use in a broad range of conditions.

The lens is now available for pre-order from Nikon’s website and scheduled for official release on 27 October 2022. It’s priced at £1199.
