OM System updates firmware

Posted on Jan 26, 2023

Five OM System cameras will require updates in anticipation of the new 90mm Macro lens

OM System camera owners — in particular, of the OM-D E-M1 Mark II or Mark III, E-M5 Mark III, E-M1X, or the OM-5 — are due for a firmware update. The OM-1 will not require an update as long as it’s already running Version 1.3.

This firmware arrives in advance of the M.Zuiko Digital ED 90mm f/3.5 Macro IS PRO lens. The M.Zuiko PRO series includes 15 existing lenses — a mixture of primes and zooms, ranging from 7-400mm. The 90mm will be the first macro lens in the series and will offer a 2:1 maximum magnification, equivalent to 4x in 35mm format. OM System has yet to announce its exact release date.

In order to install the update, users will need to download the OM Workspace software and connect their camera(s) via USB cable. Read these instructions for further guidance, and learn more by visiting OM System’s website.
