Posted on Mar 30, 2023

The shortlist includes images from 27 competitive categories

The Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year (PLFPOTY) competition has announced its 2023 shortlist, which includes images from 27 distinct categories, such as ‘Bring Home the Harvest’, ‘Food at the Table’ and ‘On the Phone’. Submissions were in the thousands, with entrants from over 65 countries – demonstrating both the diversity and universality of food culture.

This year’s winners will be announced on 16 May at 7:30pm (BST) in a private screening at BAFTA, London and a livestream on PLFPOTY’s YouTube channel. The finalists will see their images displayed at the Royal Photographic Society from 20 May through 11 June. This exhibition will run alongside Wildlife Photographer of the Year and Travel Photographer of the Year as part of Bristol’s ‘World Photography in Focus’.

The PLFPOTY 2023 panel, chaired by David Loftus, includes Fiona Shields (Head of Photography, the Guardian), Ian Kittichai (Restaurateur, Author, TV Host), Ella Ravilious (Curator, V&A Museum) and Nik Sharma (Photographer, Cookbook Author, Columnist).

See below for a selection of shortlisted images.
