SINWP Bird Photographer of the Year winners announced

This year’s competition raised almost £3000 in aid of the RSPB and the winning shots are simply stunning.

Closing out its second year, The Society of International Nature and Wildlife Photographers has announced the winners of its Bird Photographer of the Year 2019 competition. Thousands of photos were submitted from all around the world, with entrants raising close to £3000 in aid of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds.

Thomas Vijayan from Ontario claimed top spot and was awarded a collection of prizes. His winning photograph featured a family of emperor penguins.

Image Michael John Erwin from Staffordshire, England took second place with his image, Grebe

 

Image Feargal Quinn from County Meath, Ireland claimed third with this image, entitled Ghostly Heron
