Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2024 preview

Posted on Sep 2, 2024

The Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition, now in its 60th year, offers a stunning preview of this year’s most highly commended images

The images will feature in an exhibition of 100 extraordinary photos from across the globe, debuting on 11 October 2024 at the Natural History Museum in London, shortly after the winning images are announced.

Wildlife Photographer of the Year is developed and produced by the Natural History Museum, London. This year’s competition saw a record-breaking 59,228 entries from 117 countries, judged anonymously by an international panel on creativity, originality and technical excellence.

Among the standout images are a smartphone-captured shot of a mule deer by Randy Robbins, an evocative portrayal of mating lions by William Fortescue and an atmospheric capture of peafowl by 10-year-old Shreyovi Mehta. View all of them in the gallery below.

The winners, including those of the new Impact Award, will be announced on 8 October 2024. The exhibition not only showcases remarkable wildlife photography but also reflects on the competition’s evolution and continued emphasis on conservation. The sixtieth edition promises to inspire visitors at the Natural History Museum and on its international tour.
