Canon’s new Redline Challenge offers the chance to win a kit prize worth over €14,000
Brand-new and aimed at amateur photographers, Canon’s recently announced Redline Challenge is designed to challenge creativity, test technical know-how and encourage photographers to push their craft. Hosted by vlogger and photographer, Kai Wong, the competition will feature an inspiring line-up of Canon Ambassadors who will share their insights, plus pro tips and tricks, for mastering each Redline Challenge brief. The first of these – Light in the Dark – calls for photographers to explore the possibilities of shooting in low light, as well as the relationship between light and shadow, contrast and colour.
The competition’s grand prize, a whopping €14,000 worth of Canon kit, includes the new Canon E0S R5 mirrorless camera, three RF lenses, a Canon image PROGRAF PRO-1000 large format printer, plus an advanced Speedlite EL-1 high-speed flash. The winner will also walk away with an exclusive photography mentoring session with Canon Ambassador Lorenz Holder, an internationally-renowned photographer and multiple Red Bull Illume Winner, known for his fresh and dynamic style.
“When Canon asked me to be involved as a mentor for the Light in the Dark challenge, I jumped at the chance as I know how exciting these competitions are for photographers to test their skills and gain industry recognition,” says Lorenz. “Whatever your subject and however you choose to interpret Light in the Dark I urge all entrants to push themselves outside of their creative comfort zone and not to be afraid of trying new styles and techniques.”
Entrants have until 23:59 on 31 May 2021 to submit their images, which can be taken on any device, and the competition is free to enter. There will be a total of three rounds judged by an independent panel of experts, with the judges’ shortlist of ten finalists revealed on the Canon website in June. The final winner will be announced by 27 June.
