Sigma releases first zoom lens for Fujifilm X Mount

Posted on Nov 14, 2022

Sigma’s new 18-50mm zoom lens joins three primes in its Contemporary series

Sigma has launched the 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN | C lens, compatible with Fujifilm’s X mount cameras. The first zoom in the Contemporary series — and the fourth overall — the 18-50mm is an affordable and versatile product for Fujifilm photographers.

The lens has a compact, portable design, measuring just under 77mm in length and weighing 285g — the lightest in its class. Good for photographers on the go or those who enjoy an all-in-one lens, the 18-50mm has a close-focusing distance of 12.1cm with an equivalent focal range of 27 to 75mm, making it suited to both close-ups and wide-angle shots.

The 18-50mm, like its counterparts in the Contemporary line (the 16mm, 30mm, and 50mm f/1.4), supports both high-speed and continuous AF as well as in-camera chromatic aberration control. Its constant aperture of f/2.8 is congruous with event photography, particularly when shooting handheld in low-light environments. Finally, it’s made from an aluminium internal structure, a rubber coating, and a thermally stable composite (TSC) to protect against water damage and extreme temperatures.

The Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN | C lens will be available from 2 December 2022 for £429.99. Learn more at sigma-imaging-uk.com.
