The new release Pentax KF is perfect for the everyday outdoor photographer

With impressively minimal buzz, Pentax has quietly declared its newest compact digital SLR, the Pentax KF, in black, Crystal White and Crystal Blue versions.

In compact form, the KF is made to perform remarkably well in adverse weather conditions. A dust-proof, weather-resistant construction means it tackles temperatures as low as -10. Even with a gloved hand, the body’s ergonomic design and grip ensures safe handling in slippery conditions.

Sitting in the standard class, it has advanced functions and user-friendly features usually only available to those in the upper bracket. One that stands out is the pentaprism-type optical viewfinder with a nearly 100% field if view.

The array of customisation tools means you can personalise the camera with your favourite settings, alongside three USER Mode positions of the dial. You can achieve high-contrast, high-saturation images, emphasising freshness, or dramatize a scene, and you can capture the ethereal colours of the night sky (for the astrophotographers amongst you).

AA-filter-free design of the APS-C CMOS sensor gives high performance and ultimately incredibly detailed images (24.24 effective megapixels). The KF also features a super-high sensitivity ISO (102,400 at standard), with an accelerator unit that produces low-noise and beautifully depicted images. The shake reduction feature is compatible with all Pentax interchangeable lenses, performing well in low-light and panning shots. A vari-angle LCD monitor helps high-angle shooting with arms outstretched or those low-angle shots taken from earth level, while handy e-dials control the Hyper operation system.
