Leica releases the Q3 43 with fixed 43mm APO lens

Posted on Sep 26, 2024

Leica has introduced the Leica Q3 43, the latest model in its full-frame fixed-lens Q-Series

The camera features a newly developed APO-Summicron 43 f/2 ASPH lens, with a fixed 43mm focal length that provides a natural perspective – close to that of the human eye.

The Q3 43 shares much of its core technology with the existing Leica Q3, including its compact design and high-resolution performance. This combines with its 43mm focal length to create a camera that is well-suited to street photography and portrait work.

On the outside, Q3 43 looks every bit a Leica, but introduces a grey leather exterior, which gives it a unique look. On the inside, the camera retains features like the built-in macro mode for close-ups and a wide f/2 aperture, which promises the ability to handle low-light conditions along with Leica’s signature smooth background separation.

The Q3 43 also features the same back-side illuminated triple-resolution sensor found in the Q3. This allows photographers to shoot at 18, 36 and 60 megapixels. Such high maximum resolution also means you can digitally frame images at 43mm, 60mm, 75mm, 90mm, 120mm and 150mm, while maintaining high resolution.

Wireless connectivity, including compatibility with iOS devices via the Leica FOTOS app, is included to support mobile workflows. A new “Leica Chrome” image look can also be applied for a more analogue-style aesthetic in JPEG images.

The Leica Q3 43 is available price of £5,900. For more information, visit the Leica website.
