Many photographers and creatives are facing a lack of options when it comes to getting their work out there in the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, but more and more brands and organisations are offering outlets. The latest is the British Photographic Assignment, run by The British Photography Awards. The platform seeks to publish work from British-based photographers and those of British nationality working around the world.

This year’s theme is centred around the global pandemic and photographers can submit their photographs showing the virus’s impact on life. There’s no strict directive, but instead entries are open to interpretation depending on each photographer’s process and practice.

Photographers are asked to submit between five and 15 captioned images with an accompanying descriptive text of up to 400 words. The venture is aimed at celebrating the variety and creativity of British photographers and inspiring the public though their images.

Hugo Donnithorne-Tait, director of The British Photography Awards, said: “The Assignment’s platform will be an important forum with huge potential for the public to experience British photographic work, no matter the level, scale or approach. It is open to everyone, from students to professional photojournalists.”

Submitted works can be dedicated to an individual, collective or institution (ie NHS key workers) for widespread publication on The British Photography Awards’ channels as well as national press and media releases. Photographers have until 1 January 2021 to enter.
