In the latest in a series of grants, including the #ShowUS grant and grants for photojournalists capturing Covid-19 stories, Getty Images has announced it is offering $20,000 (roughly £16,300) to support the creative community.

Ten grants of $2000 are being awarded to photographers, film-makers, illustrators, artists and more as part of the Creatives in Quarantine grant. Recipients also have the opportunity to licence appropriate winning work on the Getty Images and iStock websites at a 100% royalty rate.

Previously, Getty Images’ grants have been directed toward emerging creatives. However, Covid-19 has created challenges for everyone. Therefore, the Creatives in Quarantine grant is open to anyone using this time to break through creative boundaries and create inspiring work, regardless of age or experience level.

Guy Merrill, global head of art at Getty Images, commented: “During this time of global uncertainty, creative outlets become even more important – as a source of income, a means toward alleviating stress or an avenue to self-expression. Whatever the inspiration, level of experience, chosen medium or creative field, we welcome all submissions with a view of celebrating creative expression and supporting the creative community during this challenging time.”

A portfolio of work should be submitted alongside a one-page document describing the creative individual, their sources of inspiration and the thinking behind their work. Submissions are open now, closing on 8 June at midnight EST.
