Kase launches Armour 100mm System

Posted on Nov 15, 2021

Innovators Kase Filters strike again with the launch of its Armour system, a unique partnership that promises the speed of magnetic filters with the creativity of slip in filters

Magnetic circular filters are fast in use but using graduate filters is tricky; on the other hand a rectangular holder/slot-in system makes using grad filters a breeze but circular polarisers can be awkward. Kase Filters latest introduction is its Armour system and lets you enjoy the speed and quality benefits of both filter types.

The Armour holder lets you use existing Wolverine 100x100mm and 100x150mm filters in combination with the new Armour 95mm magnetic circular neutral density and circular polariser filters.

The new generation Armour holder is made from super-tough magnetic alloy so when it is offered up to the adapter ring screwed into the lens’s filter thread, magnetism takes over to hold it in place and a lock clip adds extra security.

Rectangular filters, fitted in Armour magnetic frames can be added to the front while two magnetic circular filters can be used at the front and at the rear of the holder, all again held in place thanks to the attraction of magnetism. So, in practice you can add the circular polariser to the rear, which is adjusted with a drive cog on the side of the holder, a circular ND to the front and then a rectangular grad filter. Should you need to another rectangular filter can be quickly added.

The whole process is fast and secure and of course you get all this with the performance of Kase Wolverine toughened glass filters that are shock and scratch resistant, waterproof and easy clean.

Furthermore, made from Pro HD optical quality glass and featuring Kase’s special metallic nano coatings you get stunning, super sharp, colour accurate results with no vignetting with lenses as wide as 14mm on full-frame.

The Armour Holder Kit retails at £269 and includes:

Photography News will be testing the Armour system as soon as samples arise. We have previously tested the K9 Wolverine holder (which continues in the Kase range) and the current Circular Magnetic system and found that to be first rate, so we have high expectations of the new kit.
