Nikon sponsors women-only photography award

The Marilyn Stafford FotoReportage Award celebrates women in documentary photography and offers a £2000 grant.

Nikon has announced it is the sponsor of 2019’s Marilyn Stafford FotoReportage Award. Now in its third year, the global competition celebrates female photographers in the fields of photojournalism and documentary photography.

The award grants £2000 to the winning photographer to be used on her next project. Applications are now open to female photographers at any stage in their careers and of any nationality, providing they have completed at least one documentary photo essay that showcases positive solutions to the world’s biggest social, environmental, economic and cultural issues at a local or global level.

Marilyn Stafford, pioneering photographer and award founder, said, “I’m thrilled to be partnering with Nikon for this year’s awards. As a Nikon user myself, its equipment has been a trusted companion throughout my career and has allowed me and countless other photographers to carry out our crucial work. Nikon’s support is integral to shining a light on some of the most pressing global issues and highlighting how women are helping to tackle these through the power of their photography.”
