Latest addition to the range targets photographers and videographers on the move
OM System has launched the OM-5, a compact, lightweight camera designed for photographers and videographers keen to document their outdoor adventures.
Whether shooting landscapes or portraits, the OM-5 stays modern with improved AF and eye detection. It also introduces Starry Sky AF to enhance night-time photography. Stuck in a heavy rainstorm? Its IP53 weather-resistant build promises to keep you creating, being splash, dust, and freeze proof. If that’s not enough, the OM-5 offers an extended warranty if you pre-order before 30 November.
Made for the minimalist traveller, the camera has impressive 5-Axis image stabilisation with up to 7.5 steps of compensation, eliminating the need for a tripod. Standard resolution is 20-megapixels, but this can be increased to 50-megapixels working handheld or 80-megapixels with the camera on a tripod, thanks to the High Res Shot options. The TruePic IX processor provides added functionality including Live ND, which slows shutter speeds by up to four stops, negating the need to carry neutral-density filters.
The OM-5 can shoot video in 4K and at up to 120fps for that “Hollywood feel”. It also doubles as a webcam – a welcome addition to a work trip – and exports vertical videos for the on-the-go social media guru.
The OM-5 is compatible with a range of lenses and other accessories, including microphones and flash units, and can be purchased by on its own or as a kit. It costs £1199 (body only) and ships in late November 2022.
