Sigma 18-50mmf/2.8 now available for RF Mount

Posted on Jun 25, 2024

Sigma has announced a Canon RF Mount version of the popular 18-50mm F2.8 lens

The Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 lens is designed for APS-C size mirrorless cameras and features a constant aperture of F2.8 throughout its zoom range.

Key features of the lens include a versatile full-frame equivalent zoom range of 28.8mm to 80mm and minimum focusing distance of 12.1cm delivering a maximum magnification ratio of 1:2.8.

The lens measures a maximum diameter of 69.2mm, a length of 74.5mm, and a weight of 300g, making it the smallest and lightest in its class.

Sigma says it has developed a new control algorithm for the Canon RF mount that optimises autofocus (AF) drive and communication speeds. This adaptation supports high-speed AF, Servo AF, and in-camera aberration correction, though compatibility with these features will depend on the camera used.

For photographers who already own the Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 in other mounts, Sigma offers a mount conversion service, enabling conversion to the Canon RF mount.

The lens set to hit the shelves mid-July, 2024, priced at £479. Find out more at the Sigma website.
