Skylum unveils latest Luminar AI update

Posted on Mar 16, 2021

The second Luminar AI update from Skylum continues to simplify workflows

Enabling creatives of every skill level to achieve great results with their photos, Skylum’s Luminar AI Update 2 is a free collection of powerful workflow enhancements to its AI photo editing tool.

One of the most anticipated features of this update is its improved Sky AI, which now produces reflections of sky replacements in bodies of water. The new sky automatically adjusts to the angle and depth of the scene, and reflections are even added to ripples on water surfaces to generate detailed and realistic results. This Sky AI enhancement accompanies the new Relight Human control, which relights environmental portraits and matches people to the new sky, plus faster and easier sky selection and orientation controls.

Update 2 also features new transformable texture overlays through Local Masking’s Texture tool, offering advanced controls to transform texture and image overlays, including PNG file overlay capability and custom overlay template options. The overall Templates experience has been greatly improved, too; group previews are now uniform in size and much more comfortable to work with, and all Templates are now stored in the main Templates tab (any new purchases on Luminar Marketplace will be automatically integrated). The new update also brings improved camera support for a lengthy list of devices.

“Too often, complexity is the enemy of creativity. It adds time and frustration to a process we think should be fun, even joyful,” says Alex Tsepko, CEO of Skylum. “With Luminar AI, our goal is to strip out that complexity. Update 2 build on this work and offers more creative tools. I am excited to see what people make with it.”

Skylum’s Luminar AI Update 2 is available free of charge for current Luminar AI users on MacOS and Windows. skylum.com/luminar-ai
