Sony announces two new super-telephoto lenses

The two new arrivals add to Sony’s G Master series and full-frame FE lens line-up

The first of Sony’s new lenses is the FE 600mm F4 GM OSS super-telephoto prime lens, which adds to the flagship full-frame G Master series. The lens is Sony’s longest reaching prime lens to date and the lightest in its class, and it features a host of its most advanced technologies.

The lens is designed to perform well in conjunction with Sony’s latest full-frame E-mount cameras’ advanced autofocus and subject tracking abilities, giving professional sports, wildlife and news photographers the ability to capture subjects at great distances with accuracy and detail.

The second new lens, the FE 200-600mm F5.6-6.3 G OSS super-telephoto zoom lens, expands Sony’s full-frame FE lens line-up. The lens features built-in stabilisation, a tele-zoom range from 200mm telephoto to 600mm super-telephoto, and high resolution throughout the entire zoom range, and is compatible with Sony’s 1.4x and 2.0x teleconverters.

Much like the FE 600mm F4 GM OSS lens, Sony assures reliable tracking and accurate capture when the FE 200-600mm F5.6-6.3 G OSS is paired with any of its latest E-mount camera bodies. The lens strikes “the ultimate balance between performance and portability”, according to Yann Salmon-Legagneur of Sony Europe.

The model FE 600mm F4 GM OSS and the FE 200-600mm F5.6-6.3 G OSS will ship in Europe in August 2019 and cost around £12,000 and £1,800 respectively.
