TIPA 2022 World Awards held in Hamburg

Posted on Oct 25, 2022

The TIPA ceremony honoured 40 cameras, lenses, accessories, and services

On Friday, 14 October, Hamburg’s Festival of Imaging hosted the 2022 TIPA (Technical Image Press Association) World Awards. The ceremony, moderated by Thomas Gerwers and board member Roland Franken, was held at the PHOTOPIA stage.

TIPA recognised forty outstanding products and services, including the Nikon Z 9, Leica M11, and OM System OM-1. This year, the Awards took a ‘hybrid’ approach by livestreaming the event to a worldwide audience; company representatives accepted awards on behalf of their organisations, both in person and via video.

During the ceremony, Thomas Gerwers said, “The TIPA World Awards are more than just trophies: they lend support to member magazines, publicise the ‘best of the best’ in photo products and services to help guide consumers in their purchases, and ultimately promote the photo and imaging industry in general.” Gerwers also thanked everyone who made the Awards possible.

TIPA is comprised of a collection of editors and other representatives from photographic magazines around the world. Each member publication – Photography News being one – provides industry news to readers and continuously encourages them to find joy through photography.
