Leica M Edition 70 and commemorative book announced

Posted on Oct 24, 2024

Leica has announced the release of the M Edition 70 camera, book and exhibition to mark the 70th anniversary of its M-System

M Edition 70 kit

This limited-edition film camera has been created to commemorate the introduction of the Leica M3 in 1954, which marked the beginning of the M-System.

The Leica M Edition 70 is limited to 250 sets and includes a platinum-plated Leica M-A camera, a Leica APO-Summicron-M 50 f/2 ASPH. lens, a Leicavit M fast winder, and a film container with film.

Leica M book & exhibition

In addition to the camera, Leica is publishing a book titled Leica M, which explores the history of the M-System over 250 pages. The book includes essays, rare images and a detailed account of the various M models produced over the past 70 years.

The anniversary will also feature a special exhibition at Leica’s Wetzlar headquarters, opening on 6 November 2024. The exhibit will showcase historic Leica M models, documents and photographs, providing insights into the brand’s evolution since 1954.

Price and availability

Leica M Edition 70 set will be available in selected Leica stores from early 2025, priced at £19,000 (€22,500). The Leica M book will be available globally from 5 November 2024, priced at £45 (€49).
